Our Story at Disney Rock Cabins: Historic Stone Cabins Built for Grand Lake Adventure
At Disney Rock Cabins, our cabin getaway in Disney, Oklahoma brings together local history, outdoor adventure, and the kind of relaxed hospitality that makes guests feel right at home. Since 2014, when Kathi and Mike bought the property, we have welcomed off-roaders, lake-goers, fishermen, families, and history lovers looking for a clean, cozy place to stay near Grand Lake of the Cherokees and the GRDA Off-Road Park. Our cabins are historic, comfortable, pet-friendly, and ready for the kind of trip where muddy tires, lake days, and fire pit stories all belong.
Cabins With a Story That Goes Back to the 1930s
Our cabins were built in 1937 and 1938, during the era of the Pensacola Dam and what would become Grand Lake of the Cherokees. Long before Disney Rock Cabins became a favorite getaway, these sturdy stone buildings served as worker housing and became part of the local landscape.
Over the years, the property passed through different owners and was once known as Roger’s Rock Cabins. In 2006, it was owned and operated by American Veteran John Scott. When we took over in 2014, we knew we were caring for more than lodging. We were preserving a piece of Disney history.
That history is still in the walls. The original stone character remains, and we work hard to protect it.
Rustic Character With Modern Comforts
Maintaining cabins that are more than 85 years old takes steady care. Our goal has always been to balance the rustic feel of the original rock structures with the comfort today’s guests expect.
That is why our cabins include linens, towels, a small fridge, coffee pot, microwave, shower, air conditioning, updated HVAC, Wi-Fi, and Smart TVs. You still get the charm of a historic Oklahoma rock cabin, but you do not have to give up the basics that make a trip easy.
“We believe a great cabin stay should feel authentic, not outdated. The history should surround you, but comfort should meet you at the door.”

Located Where the Adventure Starts
Our location is one of the biggest reasons guests choose us. Disney Rock Cabins sits between Grand Lake of the Cherokees and the Grand River Dam Authority Off-Road Park, making us a true home base for outdoor adventure.
You can unload your UTV, ATV, side-by-side, Jeep, or trail rig and be on your way in minutes. Off-roading trails are accessible off the back of our property, and boat docking is just a block away. For guests who want to fish, swim, boat, ride, explore, and relax without wasting time driving across town, our location is hard to beat.
The Back-Door Access Experience
We like to say we offer the back-door access experience. Unlike hotels in larger towns, we are right where people want to be.
Off-roaders can get dirty at the trails, come back smiling, rinse off, and gather around the fire pits. Lake visitors can spend the day on the water, then return to a quiet cabin with everything they need. Families can enjoy the outdoors without feeling disconnected from the local community.
That convenience is part of our promise: if you are here for the trails, you will not find a more accessible home base.
A Hub for Off-Roaders, Lake-Goers, and Families
We are proud to be known as a hub for the off-road community in Disney. Our guests include UTV riders, ATV riders, Jeep groups, fishermen, families, history buffs, and visitors who simply want a laid-back Grand Lake getaway.
Our layout was created with gathering in mind. The lighted pavilion and communal fire pits give groups a place to reconnect after the day’s adventure. Some of our favorite moments happen at night, when guests come back covered in dust or mud, sit around the fire, and swap stories about the trails, the lake, and the day they just had.
Hospitality the Disney, Oklahoma Way
We live on the property, which means we are close by when guests need us. We believe in direct communication, personal service, and helping quickly if something comes up.
When you arrive, we do more than hand you a key. We offer a warm welcome, local tips, and the lay of the land. We can help point you toward the trails, the boat ramp, fishing spots, Little Blue State Park, the dam, and the places that make this area special.
Our style is rugged, down-to-earth, and neighborly. We understand the Disney way: enjoy the outdoors, do not be afraid of a little dust, and end the day with good company.
Preserving Local History While Welcoming Today’s Travelers
Integrity, preservation, and hospitality guide everything we do. We want Disney Rock Cabins to stay true to its roots while continuing to serve the travelers who make this area so special.
That means keeping the cabins clean and comfortable. It means maintaining the property with care. It means respecting the history of the stone cabins while adding thoughtful updates. It also means treating every guest like a fellow enthusiast, whether they came for the lake, the trails, the history, or all of it.
